Galila Barzilai Hollander, a fervent patron of the arts, is dedicated to discovering emerging artists and acquiring their works. Her tireless pursuit of art has enabled her to develop close relationships with these creators, fostering mutual inspiration and often leading to the commissioning of exclusive pieces. A self-proclaimed “Artoholic,” Galila’s collection encompasses over 20 themes, such as eyes, books, chairs, recycling, etc. These motifs offer a glimpse into her psyche, transforming her collection into a personal narrative. Guided by her intuition when selecting artwork, the artist’s name and reputation typically come to her attention only after the selection process. Her collection celebrates international artists and the diverse cultures they represent.
Galila founded P.O.C. (Passion Obsession Collection) in Brussels, Belgium, with the goal of promoting and showcasing artists whose works she collects. The exhibition space is located in a historic industrial building from the 1950s, which Galila renovated in partnership with architect Bruno Corbusier. P.O.C. serves as a contemporary art exhibition space for Galila’s eclectic art collection. Designed for a culture-seeking audience, it aims to provide visitors with a positive cultural experience that ignites joy and inspiration.
The extensive collection of Galila has been displayed in various locations worldwide. In 2022, the “Overdose” exhibition, curated by Avihai Mizrahi and Neil Nenner, took place at the Holon Design Museum in Israel. The exhibition features the works of 250 artists and designers, offering a unique perspective on common objects found within Galila Barzilai Hollander’s vast art collection.
A testament to Galila’s unwavering commitment to contemporary art and design and their promotion is her generous contribution to Culture Treasures magazine. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Galila for her dedicated support and encouragement during the magazine’s inaugural year.
