• Shachaf Dekel

  Founder, Writer & Editor-in-Chief

  Shachaf Dekel is the founder and editor-in-chief of Culture Treasures magazine and an accomplished documentary filmmaker and video journalist. Her body of work includes 102 short documentaries and web series episodes, each delving into the social impact of culture and designed for widespread viewing on social media platforms, notably YouTube. Among her films are the short documentary Artopia #Belfast, the web series Yotsrim, and The Treasure. In 2019, Dekel received the Best Documentary Award at the New York Web Fest for the web series Yotsrim. Additionally, she served as a member of the selection committee for the student competition at the Docaviv International Documentary Film Festival in 2021 and 2022. Beyond her film work, Dekel engages with the public through workshops and lectures at museums, universities, art centers, and private events, where she showcases her films and shares the stories behind them and discusses the profound impact of the arts.

• Benjamin Freidenberg

  Benjamin Freidenberg is a film director and cinema studies scholar at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem's Romance Studies Department. He graduated summa cum laude from the Sam Spiegel Film & Television School and holds a master’s degree in Linguistics. His research focuses on film language and the influence of linguistics on the research of film and the arts.

• Gadi Rimer

  Writer

  Gadi Rimer is a screenwriter and filmmaker. His student films, Sooner or Later (2019) and All Those Beginnings (2022), were screened at festivals in Israel and worldwide, including the Haifa International Film Festival, the Tel Aviv International Student Film Festival, the Potsdam International Student Film Festival, and the Israeli Film Festival in Paris. His independent documentary, Requiem for a Fish (2021), participated in the final stage of the Israeli Documentary Forum competition in 2022 and was screened at the Epos art film festival in Tel Aviv and at Jewish film festivals in Warsaw, Miami, San Diego, and Toronto. Rimer is currently working on his first full-length film. He teaches cinema at Thelma Yellin High School in Givatayim and Alon High School in Ramat Hasharon. He is one of the founders of the Off-Screen cinema magazine and regularly publishes articles in the Tel Aviv Cinematheque magazine and the Takriv magazine for documentary cinema.

• Dolev Amitai

  Dolev Amitai is a filmmaker, critic and film scholar. He is currently working on his graduation film and his Masters at the Steve Tisch School of Film and Television, Tel-Aviv University. Dolev also writes for Off Screen, Takriv and the Tel Aviv Cinematheque magazine. He directed his film, Letter to My Parents, in 2021. These days he is working on "Bless Me Father", a personal documentary about his musician father, as well as his master’s research on YouTube compilation films.

• Tami Liberman

  Tami Liberman is an ethnographic film scholar and video editor. Among the film projects she took part in as editor are: Anke Hentschel’s feature film Unbelehrbar (2010), Orly Vilnai and Guy Meroz’s Paying for Justice - The Struggle Continues (2008) and Itay Marom’s documentary film Observation Diary (2023). She earned her BFA in Film and Television (with honors) from Tel Aviv University and her MA in Visual Anthropology from Freie Universität Berlin. Her research film Napps won several awards and was screened in academic conferences and film festivals worldwide including Festival dei Popoli. Aside from editing, Tami has taught courses in editing and in documentary and ethnographic film at Freie Universitaet Berlin and at Tel Aviv University and other main Israeli film schools. Her articles have been published in the online journal Anthrovision and in the Israeli documentary film magazine Takriv.

• Noa Berman-Herzberg

  Noa Berman-Herzberg is a screenwriter, filmmaker, and a screenwriting lecturer and mentor at Bezalel Academy of Art and other schools and film labs etc. She graduated Literature studies at Tel-Aviv University, Screenwriting studies in Camera Obscura Film School, and is completing a master's in film culture at the University of Haifa. She Wrote and co-directed the acclaimed docu-animated short film Holy Holocaust 2021 with animator Osi Wald, which gained recognition in over 60 film festivals, won 13 international awards, and was acquired by The New Yorker magazine, 2022. Another of her notable works is the feature film MABUL (FLOOD), 2010, co-written with director Guy Nattiv. Among its prizes are - a commendation at the Berlin Film Festival in 201, Best Film at the Haifa Film Festival in 2010 and others. It is based on the duo's short film MABUL from 2001 which won the "Crystal Bear" at the Berlin Film Festival. For the past six years, Noa has been leading a storytelling and culinary Project, Sour Food Sour Stories which she is transforming into a documentary film, supported by the Makor Film Fund.

• Ori Tor

  Writer

  Ori Tor is a documentary researcher and writer about cinema. Since 2022, he has been based in Berlin. He is a graduate of the Steve Tisch School of Film and Television at Tel Aviv University and publishes articles and film reviews for the journal Offscreen, with a focus on documentary and Israeli cinema. He has worked as a visual researcher and production manager on various documentary films, including Speer Goes to Hollywood (2020) and The Round Number (2021).

• Shaylee Atary

  Writer

  Shaylee Atary is a filmmaker - director, video editor, screenwriter, and actress. Her short film Neurim (2020) was selected for the Cinéfondation competition at the Cannes Film Festival, screened at numerous international festivals including Moscow, Palm Springs, and Rhode Island, and received several awards. Her following short film, Single Light (2023), was selected for the official Zabaltegi Tabakalera competition of the San Sebastián International Film Festival, won at the Jerusalem Film Festival, and was nominated for the Ophir Awards.

  As a film editor, she has worked on numerous short films, including The Bo” (2023), by the late director Yahav Winner, winner of the Israeli Academy Award (Ophir). The film was acquired by The New Yorker and widely distributed in Israel and abroad. Together with Single Light, the films have been screened over 385 times, often followed by audience talks in Israel and around the world. Her additional editing credits include His Wife (Liat Kaplan), Border (Roni Bahat), Indian Grave (Yahav Winner), and Puffs (Chaya Moshiyov).

  As a writer, Atary co-wrote the feature film Kibbutz Legend (2023) with Yahav Winner, in which she also played the lead role and is currently editing the film. Alongside her creative work, she teaches conceptual editing at Sapir College and screenwriting at the Minshar School of Art.

• Yaara Ozery

  Yaara Ozery is a film scholar, lecturer and an independent film curator. She’s a PHD student and lecturer at the Steve Tisch School of Film and Television, Tel Aviv University, and a lecturer at the Kibbutzim College. Her research focuses on women’s cinema and documentary cinema. Formerly worked as Program Manager for Docaviv – The Tel Aviv International Documentary Film Festival. Yaara is the initiator and organizer of Mirrors – The First Women’s Film and Television Conference in Israel.

• Dr. Sophia Dekel Caspi

  Dr. Sophia Dekel Caspi is an art historian, interdisciplinary researcher, and curator whose work explores questions of identity.
  Dekel Caspi has written and edited for newspapers and magazines and was the founder and first editor of the Gallery supplement of Haaretz newspaper. She has also published articles in academic journals (including Asaf) and in international magazines such as Architectural Digest.
  As a curator, Dekel Caspi has organized exhibitions at leading museums in Israel, including the Gania Schreiber Art Gallery at Tel Aviv University, the Tel Aviv Museum of Art, the Ein Harod Museum of Art, the Herzliya Museum of Contemporary Art, the Artists’ House Jerusalem, and the Dada Museum, among others.
